Easy way to save url variables without storing in a table

I am working with a website were a customer goes through the process of selecting various options. For example:

Step 1 - they select event type (corporate, wedding) they click on either one and it passes using url variable to the next page.
Step 2 - Service type they select (family style, plated, buffet) they click on either one of this options and it passes to the next page.

How do i keep these values stored without having them inserted to a database table? is it possible?

You could try saving the values as session variables
