MySQLi and existing WA server behaviors

If I upgrade to the MySQLi server behavior extension, what will happen to the existing WA server behavior extensions? Will they all work together beneath the same DW CS5.5 or DW CS6 interface? Thank you.

Data Assist, eCart and Design Extender are not upgraded to support MySQLi, the next project we will be working on is upgrading Data Bridge, it will take a little time to complete the upgrade, though. we do not have a time frame for when it will be made available at this time. After Data Bridge is completed, we will be upgrading eCart then moving on to Design Extender.

When will these extensions be obsolete then? I guess I do not know when the new version of PHP will be released...??? Have you heard when this will be? Thanks.

the MySQL library is not scheduled to be removed until PHP V6. The time frame for when they will be obsolete depends entirely on the host and when they force you to use a PHP version that does not support the MySQL library.

As an Example, With 1 and 1 hosting, I am able to use either PHP 5 right now, or I can select to use PHP 4 if I need to for older applications.

I'm sure when PHP 6 is released I Will at east have the option to use PHP 5 which will support the MYSQL library or use v6 if I Wish,

I was wondering the same thing, but not sure I understood the answer.

If extension is installed, will it hurt affect existing pages?
Does server need to have PH6 installed first before we can install and learn how to use it?
I have a dedicated server with all domains. Is PH6 activated per domain or is it server wide?

In other words, I'd like to start learning how to use it before it is critical to know. Thanks!

No, having the MySQLi extension installed will not effect the other extensions or existing pages.

the MySQLi library is available is php version 5.2 and above.

The php version depends on the host. they may be abler to configure the PHP version on a site by site basis, or not for your dedicated hosting, you would need to ask them about it. but PHP v6 is not needed for you to use the MySQLi extension (PHP v6 is not released yet anyway). I ony mentioned it as a reference for when the MySQL library would no longer be available.

Current PHP versions have both the MySQL and MySQLi libraries available.

One more dumb question. Will existing mysql databases work with this or does it require a different database installed on server?
Obviously much I don't know yet!

It will work with existing databases.

MySQLi is the library that is used by the PHP server to connect to the database server.

Both the MySQL and MySQLi libraries can be used by the PHP server to connect to the same database server.
