Activating Universal Email 4 for CS5

I'm trying to activate my copy of Universal Email 4 using the serial number currently listed on the website under my downloads. It says it's a valid serial number, but when I try to activate I get error Unexpected Error -2. After looking through the forums I saw that it doesn't work in CS6, but I'm using CS5. I'm also using the latest version available under my downloads. I understand that it's been replaced by Data Assist, but I don't think I should have to buy another product with functionality I don't need to get what I already have.

For others looking at this post this is the response I got:

"This serial number is from the extension library which was discontinued over 2 years ago and is no longer valid.

To continue using the Universal Email functionality, you will need to upgrade to Data Bridge."

You just lost a customer. Keeping someone from using a product they paid money for, and then forcing them to buy an expensive package full of stuff they don't need to get what they already have is extortion. The whole concept of bundling everything into two packages and not supporting your past customers may have made sense in a corporate boardroom, but I hope in the real world you lose money like crazy. Take Windows XP as an example. It's not supported with updates, but I can still install it and use it. Hell, I can reinstall Windows 3.1. I don't expect support for it, but I can use it if for some odd reason I wanted to. I will definitely be spreading the word to my colleagues.

The extension library was a monthly / yearly subscription service.

You pad for the subscription service to use it for the period you paid for.

It looks like you paid for 2 years, during the time period you pad for, you where able to use it.

that time period has passed, so the subscription is no longer valid.
