JBWebWorks

have to use asp for this website due to server

Have a website that I am doing maintenance and they have it hosted on IIS 6.0 server and won't change.
Server does not support PHP so have to use ASP.
I am trying to use UE and getting error
Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

E:\0\0\1\66\1555\USER\1936\HTDOCS\INQUIRY\../WA_Universal_Email/JMail_VB.asp, line 113

800401f3

Is this a server issue and what should I try to fix?

The error is saying that it cannot create the Jmail object meaning that JMail is not supported on that sever, use one of the other email objects like CDOSYS

could not get any object to work and the support for that server said that smtp is enabled.
I am getting them to switch to Linux server so I can use PHP

thanks for your help,

was it the same Server.CreateObject Failed message with each object?

Switching to PHP would be best, if it comes down to it, you can also switch hosts, I use 1 and 1 and have never had a problem sending emails

Jason,

Yes it was the same Server.CreateObject Failed message with each object (AspEmail, Aspmail,CDONTS,....) The host is Cox and I talked to them to be sure SMTP was enabled. They immediately suggested changing to Linux server, so i am assuming they have constant problems with IIS and ASP

I use iPower and have never had any problems but this client did not want to change from Cox for some reason.

thanks again for your support,

Just FYI:
" I talked to them to be sure SMTP was enabled"

SMTP being enabled is not the same as having the mail objects installed.

The most common mail object is CDOSYS, but when installing the IIS server, it needs to be selected as an add on object, it is not part of the default IIS set up.

The SMTP server is another install altogether.

THE CDOSYS object is the method that the IIS Server will use to communicate with the SMTP server.

Another way to look at it is the Access Database versus the IIS server.

In the IIS Server, you need to also install MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components)

This includdes the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 driver that allows the IIS server to talk to the Database.

this is the same as the CDOSYS drivers. The CDOSYS driver allows the IIS server to talk to the SMTP server.

error when using CDOSYS object
CDO.Message.1 error '80040213'

The transport failed to connect to the server.

That means it cannot connect to the mail server specified.

Either the SMTP Server address is not a valid address, or the port number is wrong is the main cause for this.

if the smtp server requires authentication, make sure you have entered the proper username and password.

just talked with Cox and they said that the MX record points to appriver so the mail server to use would have to belong to appriver and not Cox. I thought that since the website is hosted by Cox that any mail sent by the website would be sent by Cox mail server?

I got it to work using this setting
set WA_MailObject = WAUE_Definition("localhost","25","60","client_username","client_password","1")
