Just installed the latest versions of Databridge and Design Extender BUT did not first deinstall the older versions -- Am I OK, or what should I do now?

Just installed the latest versions of Databridge and Design Extender BUT did not first deinstall the older versions -- Am I OK, or what should I do now?

I just installed the latest versions of Databridge and Design Extender, the versions I already had installed were Design Extender 1.1.1 and Data Bridge 1.1.3 (maybe 1.1.1, not sure). (mxp versions for DW CS 6 on Mac OS 10.6.8).

BUT I did not deinstall the older versions first. AFTER I did the installs, I then saw on the page for the Data Bridge update in the forum that you should "be sure to remove the older version first before installing."

I haven't launched DW yet and thought I should check with you before doing anything now. Am I ok as is, or should I do something, like perhaps maybe restore via a Time Machine backup the en_US/Configuration folder from before I did this, then deinstall the old DE and DB extensions and then install the new ones.

Please let me know what to do.

Thank you,
David

You should try to uninstall the extensions then re install them.

Please clarify

So, to be clear, are you saying I only need to deinstall the new ones, then reinstall them, and, that I don't need instead restore via a Time Machine backup the en_US/Configuration folder from before I did this, then deinstall the old DE and DB extensions and then install the new ones?

Should be fine to just uninstall the extensions then reinstall them.

If things don't work out at that point, I would recreate the users configuration folder rather than restoring fom a backup.

more clarification please

thanks Jason. But what do you mean specifically by "recreate the users configuration folder"? Do you mean start from scratch and reinstall all the extensions? How to do that? Deinstall all extensions with Extension Manager, then reinstall all my extensions? I'm not sure specifically precisely what you mean by that. Please explain/clarify that, thank you.

OK, now I understand what you were referring to, thanks. Will first try uninstalling the new ones and reinstalling the new ones.

Question re: reinstalling the new ones

OK, I've deinstalled the new Data Bridge and Design Extender extensions. That leaves eCart 5.07 which I previously had installed.

So, specifically, what should I do now, i.e., does it matter what order I re-install Data Bridge and Design Extender now? Can I just leave the old eCart 5.07 and then install Data Bridge and Design Extender in no particular order? How should I do this reinstall of Data Bridge and Design Extender?
Thanks

Please answer my last question in the above post

Please answer my last question in the above post --- now that I've uninstalled Data Bridge and Design Extender, leaving installed the already previously installed eCart 5.07, what order should I reinstall Data Bridge and Design Extender, which one first, or does it not matter, or do I need to uninstall eCart 5.07 too and then reinstall all three in some particular order????

you should uninstall eCart also, then install eCart again, open dreamweaver and close it, then install Design Extender and Data Bridge
