Upgrading Builder Version

I am going through some old client sites I did and would like to upgrade their version of PowerCMS. I believe I created them with the PowerCMS Builder prior to Super Suite (which I now have). The newer PowerCMS pages give me a variety of options, and to keep things current and similar across the board, I would like to update the other sites, but how do I do that without deleting the content/pages of the existing sites?

I was looking at past forums, and similar questions referred to overwriting certain files, but I don't know what files and how to get them since they are created and automatically added in the extension. I also couldn't find a tutorial on this.

Many thanks!

got fatal error

So I tried the update, got the success message saying I could delete the upgrade script, i deleted it, tried logging back into the CMS and go this error:

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '../webassist/security_assist/helper_php.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php5.4') in /homepages/40/d369590415/htdocs/robert hanley/admin_cms/index.php on line 5

I have to revert the site to a backup as the site itself stopped functioning - but any idea why this would be the case?

It must be a version of Power CMS prior to 2.0.1, the upgrade instructions only apply to 2.0.1 or newer.

you could delete the existing Power CMS files from the site, make a back of the PCMS 2 contents table, then recreate the CMS using Design Extender, this would give you the newer version. you could them import the contents backup table to the new contents table
