Product question

I had a quick couple of questions. We have a client that would like a member login. There are a couple of scenarios:

1. The member login goes to secured pages that are the same for anyone that has an account and able to login.
2. The member login goes to secured pages that are specific to that particular group e.g. John Smith and Scott White have access to A,B,C pages and Julie Anderson and 3 others have access to S,T,U pages.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

your first scenario is just standard authentication.

your second scenario is user level authentication
