Where to store the downloadable files for download center

Hi all - I was going through the http://www.webassist.com/tutorials/How-to-create-a-download-center tutorial and couldn't get it to work on a new xampp server. it looks like I can't access the folder for the downloadable files which is like recommended in the tutorial not in the site root

Are there some settings I have to check/change in the apache-/php settings ?

no settings need to be changed.

In the xampp folder create a new folder for the download file at the same level as the htdocs folder.

In the Download file server behavior, Click the folder icon next to the Folder setting and select the folder you created.

Thanks for fast reply. In the meantime I tested it against an older xampp test server on Win7 and it worked like a charm. But moving the same files to an xampp server 1.8.3 on a Win 8 machine i got this issue.

I have the following folder structure on both machines :
xampp
|
| - htdocs
| | - website
| - Downloads

Path in Download Behaviour is ../../Downloads/

This is identical on both installation. The only variation is that on the working version xampp is installed in Drive C:
and the not working one is on drive E:

Any hints are appreciated

I did an identical install of the same xampp version in the same directory like on the working machine, but still have the same issue.
Seems to be a Win8 / xampp issue

UPS - my bad !! The issue was that the wrong Download folder was moved to the new xampp and of course the file names didn't match!
After correcting this it works like a charm. :-)
