Help! Errors while using testing server

Hello,

I am trying to test UE using a testing server (Using Xampp) and it cannot find my mail server...When I preview, I get this message....

Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in C:\xampp\htdocs\Careertechstaffing.com09\WA_Universal_Email\mail_PHP.php on line 254

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\Careertechstaffing.com09\WA_Universal_Email\mail_PHP.php:254) in C:\xampp\htdocs\Careertechstaffing.com09\contact.php on line 11

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

The errors are both for the same problem, the second is just occurring because of the first. This is because you do not have an SMTP server running locally. You will need to have access to one to test this part out. You can find some SMTP servers on the internet that should work for your OS, or you can just upload to your live server and try testing from there.

Thanks my friend. It was driving me insane for a minute...Have any suggestions on an SMTP for Vista?

Best,

Sean

In my Vista machine I use the built in SMTP server for IIS. I have read in a forum post somewhere that you can have the IIS setup and just stop the IIS webserver from running while keeping the SMTP running.

You can also try testing the pages out on your live host, there should be an SMTP server setup there already for you to use.
