Concatenate text

I'm trying to concatenate text in my shopping cart. Under calculations I add something like:

Name: myName
Calculation: [Name]+[Flavor]

[Flavor] is a custom list (both label and value are set as text) however, the result is always returned as a single number (1 or 0). I've uploaded my file and eCart1_PHP.php to the server. Is there anything else that might cause this?

in PHP the proper way to concatenate two cart columns would be:
Calculation: [Name]. ' ' .[Flavor]
