Form to add text and upload a pdf file

I need to have a form that adds information to the database (name, dates, etc) and allow the upload of a pdf file to a specific folder on the site server and add the link to that file to the database. The examples I find use Digital File Pro which has been replaced.

Digital File Pro is still a part of Data Bridge.

you can access Digtial File Pro upload by going to Webassist -> File Manipulation -> Upload.

create the form with the file field, then add the Digital File pro upload behavior to upload the PDF File, then add the Data Assist Insert Record behavior. Open the server behaviors panel, click the plus button and select WebAssist -> Data Assist -> Insert -> Single record Insert.

in the insert behavior, select the connection and the table to use.

on the bindings tab, bind each column to the corresponding form element. Select a column, then click the lighting bolt next to value and select the form element from the bindings list.

for the file field, use the WA Uplloaded Files -> Server File Name binding

Problem is your are using the standard Dreamweaver insert record behavior.
you wont be able to store the uploaded file name using the standard insert behavior.

you need to use the Data Assist insert server behavior in order to bind the file name column to the server file name variable created by the file upload.

Hi, steve.
Thanks for your nice sharing. But when it comes to pdf processing problem, I have a question to ask you. I wonder whether I need some 3rd party pdf text extraction toolkits to help me extract text from pdf files. If so, it will be better if itt offers free trial package for users to check. I will try it later and send you feedback.

Best regrads,
Pan
