Trying to change spry validation message but will not change
I am trying to change the default messages "please enter a value" to "please enter your password". It changes in Dreamweaver CS6, but does not change on live site.

make sure you are not editing the server validation message and you are editing the spry validation message.
if you send a copy of your page I can show what to edit for spry validation.
this code:
<?php
if (ValidatedField('logIn','logIn')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("logIn","logIn").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
<span class="serverInvalidState" id="Log_In_group_Username_ServerError">Please enter your Password.</span>
<?php //WAFV_Conditional logIn.php logIn(1:)
}
}
}?>
and this code:
<?php
if (ValidatedField('logIn','logIn')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("logIn","logIn").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "") || (strpos((",".ValidatedField("logIn","logIn").","), "," . "3" . ",") !== false || "3" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
<span class="serverInvalidState" id="Log_In_group_Password_ServerError">Please enter a value.</span>
<?php //WAFV_Conditional logIn.php logIn(2,3:)
}
}
}?>
are the server validation error messages.
the code for the spry validation messages is:
<span class="textfieldMinValueMsg">The entered value is less than the minimum required.</span><span class="textfieldMaxValueMsg">The entered value is greater than the maximum allowed.</span><span class="textfieldMinCharsMsg">Minimum number of characters not met.</span><span class="textfieldMaxCharsMsg">Exceeded maximum number of characters.</span><span class="textfieldRequiredMsg">Please enter a value.</span>
and
<span class="passwordMinCharsMsg">Minimum number of characters not met.</span><span class="passwordRequiredMsg">Please enter a value.</span>
That code that you sent me is the same that I have.
Im point out to you which blocks of code to edit for the spry messages and the server validation messages.
if you edit the server validation message, it will have no effect on the spry message.
you need to make sure you are editing the spry message.
Before you could change it where I was, Not where you currently have too. But it's working. Thanks
the code you where changing is the Server side validation error.
it is the error message that will display if server side validation fails.
for spry validation failure, you have to edit the other code.
