Updating extension procedure, dreamweaver crashing

To update an extension, do I #1 unable the extension, #2 download the new extension while that us unabling, #3 close dreamweaver, install extension or ?? I have had so many issues with dreamweaver crashing that I want to be sure I am doing this correctly. Thank You! ps I have CS5.5 Version 11.5 Build 5366 and a very new computer with 100GB of free space with total of 220 GB, 8GM Ram, 64 bit operating system. Not sure what else would help figure out my issues. I am having numerous issues with Databridge and have 1.07 installed so I was going to start with that.

you need to uninstall the previous extension completely, not just disable it.

Close DW,
Uninstall the Previous version form the extension manager
Download the new version
then install it into the extension manager.

also Delete the Dreamweaver Cache file from the users configuration folder:
