Password Encryption

Password Encryption

I have a website up and running for some months in which there's a registration page. I never applied Password Encryption but finally I revisited and found out how to do it. Will I have to rerun security assist and recreate the login scripts or can the code be changed on existing pages some other way? I would opt not to recreate the login as it is part of all the pages on the site (you can log in from header drop down from any). So if I have to recreate the pages, I guess cutting the code and replacing on existing pages would do ?

Any feedback would help. Thank you.

Are you using Security Assist 2 / Data Bridge?

if yes, than recreating the pages using the wizard would be easiest. it could be done manually, but the forgot password page when using encryption is quite a bit more complex and not that simple to create manually.

I'm using SecurityAssist 2.04. How do I check version of Data Bridge?

If I add encryption at this point, do I definitely have to rebuild the login page code? It has to decrypt first in order to compare? Is that how it works?

If you have Security assist 2 installed, you would not install data bridge as well. but the version would be listed in the Extension manager.

With Password encryption, the register pages stores the encrypted password in the data base.

on the login page, the password entered to the login form then gets encrypted to compare against the value in the database.

Encryption is a one way process, once encrypted, it cannot be decrypted,

the forgot password page is really a password reset, it sends a link through email back to the forgot password page that lets the user set a new password.

it is really mush easier to re run the wizard to create pages using encryption rather than to manually edit existing ones.
