Managing a CMS site...

Hi, I am new to WebAssist SuperSuite. I am practicing integrating CMS in websites. I went thru the process of creating a CMS with Site Sculptor Site and creating a local server in Dreamweaver CS5. Everything went well editing in PowerCMS and coming back to Dreamweaver to see the changes, and also editing in Dreamweaver and seeing the results in PowerCMS. Everything is well in a local server environment. I then tried the same with a live server. All the installation is well but the problem is in editing the content in Dreamweaver. I am able to edith whit no problems in PowerCMS and seeing the results on my live server. I even went thru login in PowerCMS to edit like a user would do. My question is, is it normal that I can't edith in Dreamweaver when I click on CMS content? It is also displaying «Content Area Not Found» just besides the CMS Content place holder. Because I am in a PHP environment Dreamweaver wants to create a testing server...Is this possible to have the local folder, the remote server and a testing all related to each other?

I am blocked at this point even after searching in google and reviewing training videos.

Help is greatly appreciated...

Thank You!

Boby

you would need to set the site definition to use the remote FTP server as the testing server, instead of having the testing server be your local computer.

Thank You Jason for the reply,

If I understand you well, presently the check box in Dreamweaver is set to remote server, but should be set to the test server? Is that the only thing to do?

Thanks again for you response!

Yes, the testing server and remote server of dreamweaver should be connected to the remote server.

HI Jason,

I have checked both check boxes of my host site in the Site Setup in Dreamweaver but I still can't edit the content of my pages made by PowerCMS...Maybe I have not made my self clear concerning the workflow I am trying to achieve. I have created a site with Site Sculptor and asked to make a CMS for different content. Now, that content I am able to edit it in PowerCMS with no problems, but when I come back to Dreamweaver to edit some more on the same content it is not possible (or even opening the page in the browser is not possible because Dreamweaver do not see a testing server) . The button in the Properties indicating Edit in Dreamweaver is grayed out... Does this mean that when a CMS site becomes live it is not possible to come back to Dreamweaver and edit the pages some more? If this is true it is quite strange... I imagine that it's not the case...

Thanks again for trying to understand and helping me thru...

Boby :)

In the settings for the testing server, make sure the correct URL is entered to connect to the site.

Managing a CMS site...Yes resolved...Thank You Jason...

Hi Jason, You were on the spot with the URL... It is now possible to go back and forth from PowerCMS on remote site and Dreamweaver, and edit on both sides...

Knew question: Is it normal that I can edit the paragraphs but all the h1 titles are not visible in Dreamweaver meaning that I can't edit the titles?

Best regards,

Boby

i dont follow. if the H1 title is a part of the content area, you should be able to edit it, yes.

Hi Jason,

This is what I taught...But in Dreamweaver I don't see the titles and when I click on the content the paragraphs are selected but there is no title...

Any solutions...

Thanks...

Boby
