CSV Import

Hi,

I want to import a CSV file into CafeCommerce but I'm having trouble with making sure that it's the correct format. Before I go spending a lot of time on figuring it out, is there a tutorial for this type of thing? I exported from Doba (if this helps).

Thanks!

if you create a product in cafe commerce, you can use the export feature to export a CSV file, you can use this CSV file as a reference for setting your own CSV to import new products.

That makes sense. I didn't think of doing that myself. Hopefully I can figure it out because it's more convenient that way :)

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm still having problems with importing the CSV file. I'm getting a "Column count doesn't match value count at row 16" but I don't really know what that means. Is it a problem with the database or is it a problem with my file?

most likely it is a problem with the data in the CSV file.

most likely you have a double quote inside one of the column values.

That explains it! There are some double quotes in there from my supplier's exported data, so that will explain it.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm still getting that error after I went through and removed all of the double quotes that I can find. Any other ideas?

Is it still reporting the problem at row 16? or is it a different row?

is row 16 the last row?

are you using a text editor to manage the CSV file, or using Excel?

I would need to know the exact error message and have a copy of the CSV in order to troubleshoot the cause.

Hi Jason,

It's still that same error and I'm using excel. I know excel keeps throwing an error that it's not in proper format too, I just can't figure out what's wrong with it (it's probably Excel that's causing the problem). It's a file that I've exported from Doba, edited so that it looks like what CafeCommerce exports but I don't know enough about CSV files and can't really find literature on it that makes any sense to me.

Also, is it possible to import image links with the CSV import? I don't see the image links in the CC export. It'd make things a lot easier if it's possible.

Thanks!

I would need a copy of the csv in order to troubleshot.

you can use img tags in the product details column, for example:

<img src="/images/imagename.jpg">

just make sure that the image file is uploaded to the path you use, in my example /images/
