MySQL Query Browser has been depricated

I'm trying to work my way through the PHP Database Starter Kit tutorials but I can't get past the second tutorial. The MySQL Query Browser the tutorial calls for is no longer available for download... at least for my iMac. I ended up downloading MySQLWorkbench, which is supposedly the replacement software for Query Browser. Unfortunately, the user interfaces are so different I can't follow the tutorial.

I have MAMP Pro installed but once again the user interfaces are so different from those in the tutorial that I finally gave up after about five hours of going around in circles.

Any suggestions? Will the tutorial be updated now that MySQL Query Browser is no longer available?

It looks like it is still downloadable:

MAMP and XAMP should be very similar and once installed should just work.
