Photo Gallery w/ admin

New to the super suite, I understand that the suite comes with everything I should need to build all kinds of different DB driven apps without hand coding as I have been doing thus far.

I would like to build a photo gallery that has albums and pics in the albums and that the user can manipulate.

I can create the DB myself if needed but these tools are so new to me, Im just not sure wich tools to use and what tools work well together.

Note* So far I have been using the Power CMS (Extender tool) to add admin panels to an existing site and it works great. Just not sure how I would do a photo gallery with these tools.

Any help is greatly appriciated!

For the Admin section, you would use Data Bridge to create pages to manage the Gallery

you would probably want to have 2 tables, one for galleries, and one for the images for the galleries with a linking column to relate the images to the galleries.

Displaying the galleries, you would use a recordset to return the gallery images and use something like Mootools to create the gallery display.

maybe a dumb question, but is mootools included with the suite? I dont see it in my menus anywhere...

mootools is a javascript framework that is commonly used for creating the modal window effect used in many galleries:

Okay, so I have done the following and am stuck...
1. Create DB with 2 tables. Albums and photos with id from album table linking to alb_id in the photos table.
2. Define a php site in DW.
3. Create a php file and open it.

Now this is where Im stuck. You said "For the Admin section, you would use Data Bridge to create pages to manage the Gallery" but I dont get what part of data bride do I use?

If I were doing it by hand I would create a repeating Div with a dynamic image based on a recordset with a link to the pics for adding and deleting etc. But I'm lost on how Databridge can magically create my admin ... I'm sure this is partly because I'm still figuring out what works with what. Or maybe I should be using form builder?

use the Data Bridge Data Assist Create pages wizard to create the pages for managing your tables.

WebAssist -> Database -> DataAssist Pages

This will create the insert, update, search, results and details pages for you table.

you will also want to use the security assist wizard to create a login section and protect the pages created by the DataAssist pages wizard.
