Discount Codes

Hi there - I need to set up a 20% discount for 'occasionwear' on an online fashion store. In my items table I have field called ItemOccasion - it is a text field as it needs to contain more than one occasion, so an item might have an entry for ItemOccasion as follows: 'night on the town, working girl, occasionwear'. I have set up a column to pass the field to the shopping cart. But how do I set up the discount to discount the item when the occasion field contains the words 'occasionwear' by 20%?

Actually I think I might have just figured this out. I've added a line of php on my detail page to turn the occasion column into an integer as follows:
?>
<?php if (strpos($row_rsItems['ItemOccasion'], "occasion")) {
$occasion=1;
} ?>
then used the 'based on a specific column value' parameter in the discount rule. Seems to work but let me know if there is a better solution.

Ok now I do need some help - sorry this is becoming a bit of a monologue!

I decided in the end to set up a column called promo and then set a variable $promo on the detail page into which I could pass any number of parameters as different promos happen. The current one is on giftware and occasionwear so I've set the variable as follows:
<?php
if ((strpos($row_rsItems['ItemOccasion'], "occasion")) || ($row_rsItems['ItemGiftID']==1)) {
$promo=1;
}else {
$promo=0;
}?>
Then I can simply apply the promo discount if $promo =1. It does work but Im having trouble adding multiple items. If I add an item that is not in the promo to the cart, then subsequently add an item that does qualify as 'occasion wear' the variable is not resetting. The Gift parameter works fine its just the occasionwear one - I need to get this sorted quite urgently so any feedback gratefully received.

I'm afraid I don't really understand exactly what you are doing or how you are doing it, so it is difficult to make any suggestions. Perhaps you would be up for signing up for a $99 premiere support ticket with us and we could schedule an hour with an engineer to go through what you are trying to do and help you get it done in a screen sharing session.
