Trying to install power cms on server produces errors

My connection string is correct, and my live server is both my testing and remote server, but I'm still getting the following error:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/82/9977082/html/Connections/PowerCMSConnection.php on line 9

Fatal error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/82/9977082/html/Connections/PowerCMSConnection.php on line 9

Thanks!

what are you entering for the host name?
localhost?

if so try the ip:
127.0.0.1

it's on go daddy. when I log into the control panel for the account (in go daddy), and go to my database details page, this is what I see:

Hostname:
oisdb2012.db.9977082.hostedresource.com

This is what I'm using for my host name. I've verified the other credentials. In addition, I made sure that my web URL, in my dreamweaver setting, is correct (officeandindustrial.net/). I am also using the go daddy server for both my testing and live servers.

Jason ... now it seems to be working, when I did NOTHING different on my end. Gggggggrrrrrrrr! How very frustrating! However, I will be "back" if it messes up again :)

Ack - I spoke too soon. Now, at step 4 of 5 (Specify the username and password you wish to use to access PowerCMS. You will have the opportunity to modify this information and create additional user accounts, once you have completed the Installation Wizard.), I can't add an admin user.

Error Message:

Admin Login
ERROR: Failed to save the settings in the database. Please verify your database connection.

I don't understand what's going on at this point. Sigh...

On a totally different server/site, I'm getting the same installation error:

ERROR: Failed to save the settings in the database. Please verify your database connection.

It went through everything else correctly, but now I'm stuck again at this piont. In my server settings, the web URL appears to be correct.

Okay - solved the problem. I referred to my support request, and saw how it was fixed lsat time, so I manually uploaded the database tables to the server. Seems like it's working now.
