Adding a field to an update page

I attempted to add the field facebook to this page but it is not inserting.
What is the proper way to add another field to an update page. Also is there a way to populate a msg "Update Succesfull" in green at the top of the page upon sucessful update?

to add a new filed:

1) Add the new column to the database table.

2) Update the WADAtbl_directorylistings recordset that is used to populate the page so that it returns the new column

3) Add a new text filed to the page, bind the initial value to the new column that was added to the recordset

4) edit the Update record server behavior to bind the new column to the new text filed.

to show an update successful message:

set the redirect in the update record behavior to pass an update=true querystring variable:
page.php?update=true

then you can use an if statement to show the message:

php:
<?php if(isset($_GET['update']) && $_GET['update'] == "true") { ?>

<span style="color: green;">Updated Successfully</span>
<?php ?>

Hi jason

I have a similar issue; on a duplicated update page, I've done the 3 steps outlined above - yet the new field will not update! All other fields still update properly.

I've entered info in the field in the database direct, and it is retrieved by the recordset - it appears just to be Update behaviour that's not working.
Thanks
Chris

I have tried removing the behavious and starting from scratch - same results!

"on a duplicated update page"

the problem is that you duplicated the page. the original page was set to have the form action post to itself:

<form action="pages_Update.php?PgID=<?php echo(rawurlencode($row_WADApages['PgID'])); ?>" method="post" name="WADAUpdateForm" id="WADAUpdateForm">

you need to edit this so it posts to the new page name:
<form action="pages_UpdateA.php?PgID=<?php echo(rawurlencode($row_WADApages['PgID'])); ?>" method="post" name="WADAUpdateForm" id="WADAUpdateForm">
