Admin sort-able repeat regions

Today I have been trying to figure out how to allow Admins in the DA built admin area to choose the order of repeat regions.

I thought to create a menu field with numbers and use the recordset to sort by desc a number in a special number field in the database.

But I guess it gets complicated - since the menu would need to increment the previous sort# in the database up one digit.

I figure someone must have done this before and there is a direction I should look towards.
I am reading up on SQL Order by but nothing yet.
