File upload progress screen issue

I have DB installed and using Upload and Insert respectively.

I have validation controls on my form fields and therefore nothing happens until those controls are met, so all good there.

This test scenario involves user clicking upload button without filling in fields.
As stated the controls kick in and warn user, however the progress bar thinks all is good and fires up and stays in a 'wait-state', effectively locking up browser page. This is not expected behavior.

Where can i place the the progress script to fire up only if all form field conditions are met please?

I've tried at the end of the insert and upload script, but that triggers code errors.

Thanks, Paul.
