Dynamic Sales Tax Rate

I am using eCart 5.06 on DW 5.5 PHP/MySQL

I currently have an eCart Merchandising Rule that calculates the sales tax based on a static number I entered within the Merchandising Rule. How can I pull the tax rate from a database? I have a table that contains the rate (8.75) how do I replace the current static figure with a reference to the database field?

you would need a recordset that returns the value from the database, then use the Set Session Value behavior (Click the plus button on the Server Behaviors panel and select eCart -> General -> Set Session Value) to store the tax rate in a session variable.

in your tax rule, set the Flat rate tax to use:
$_SESSION['sessionName']

where sessionName is the name of the session variable.
