Adding a menu item to the admin

I have created some specialized reports for my client and I want them to be able to access them in the admin section. What I want to do is add it the the main menu bar with drop down item in the sub menu. everything will be links to pdfs so I don't need any database connection to them.

Is there a way to add the additional menu item with out messing everything up?

you would need to edit the webassist/plugins/admin_menu/menu.php file to add additional menu items.
