Error with DA2 on Mac in DW6

Error with DA2 on Mac in DW6

I have a fresh installation of DW6 on my iMac running 10.6.8, and a newly installed copy of DA2 (2.1.0). On running the Wizard to add some new admin pages, while creating the first of those pages, DA throws "Javascript error while loading AlternateSelClass.htm: Unable to open script file "Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CS6:Configuration:Shared:WebAssist:Library:WA_UI.js" (error 2).

It's not suprising since there is no WebAssist folder in that Shared folder! Nor is there one in my CS5.5 or my CS5 folder (this may also be because I don't use the Mac as my primary development workstation and so don't often install extensions on it)! And on the PC, I do find a WebAssist/Library folder in my CS5.5 Shared folder, but the corresponding file that I find there is called "WA_UserInterface.js". In my CS6 folder, I find the WA_UI.js folder, BUT I have installed DataBridge on this CS6.

What am I to do?

Data Assist 2 is not compatible with DW CS6.

you say you also have Data Bridge, Data Bridge is compatible with DW CS6, and is a replacement for Data Assist.

you should not have both installed at the same time.

uninstall Data Bridge and data Assist, then re install Data Bridge. use the Data Assist version in data Bridge which is Data Assist v3.

Jason - thanks! Because I have some sites that have partial sets of admin pages built with DA, and some other sites built entirely with DB, I wanted to have both extensions available to me. I installed DA2 on the Mac (but not DB), and DB on the PC (but not DA). That would allow me to create the DA2 "LOOK" in those sites that need it by creating those pages on the Mac (CS6, though, unfortuately). Is there a way to use DB to create those new pages so that they LOOK like the pages I already created (with DA2 before DB was available)?

No, Data Bridge does not have the same styling as Data Assist 2, you could create the pages as styled, then edit the CSS to match the look of the older pages.
