Images are not changing on color selection change

I'm having trouble setting up one of my products. There are four different colors for this product and each color change (not size change) should display a different image. Example: in the admin area, when updating a color, I have DE-SELECTED the "Only update x-small options" checkbox and have SELECTED the "Only update brown options." I have then located the brown photo on my computer and have uploaded it. I can see it listed in the image field. However, when I save it, the "Only update x-small options" becomes SELECTED again. But when I change the color option (in the admin area), the correct image shows up in the file field area. Also, the colors are not changing on the public part of the site when I select a different color. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! One more thing. The Detail Image field is always showing the same image, even if I remove it, it always comes back!

I think I solved it. I have to change the "Default Image" as well for each color change, right? is that what I was missing?
