mod_fcgid over utilizing the available PHP resources....

Hi Guys

I have built a simple site using PCMS and over the last few days the site has been 'falling over' and has been really slow on FTP uploads...

I emailed the hosting company to explain what was happenign as I thought it would be a server issue and it might need a little nudge.

They, the hosting company, came back say that the domain in question's

mod_fcgid process is over utilizing the available PHP resources for your Domain. Which is causing your site down

They then went on to say

As we allow 3 worker process with 256 child process each for PHP. You are exhausting this limits, due to which you are facing this issue.

Now, I dont know what this is or why it would be happening or if its the site itself or the server so any light you may be able to shed on this would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Jamie

sounds like the issue is being caused by site traffic. I would ask the host more specific details on possible causes of the "mod_fcgid process over utilizing the available PHP resources" and for any suggestions that they have on ways to resolve it.

To me, it sounds the traffic to site is the culprit.

I did ask them for more clarification and suggestions and they were as helpful as a chocolate teapot!

Will try again and thanks for your input Jason

Hi Jason

Have asked them to re-investigate and they have come back with the below....

We I have investigated the logs found containing errors related to the cPanel user in question.

The logs show that a lot of database queries were killed because they exceeded the execution time of 15 seconds and showed that the number of fcgi processes used by the site has exceeded the maximum limit.

Thanks

Jamie

I would need to know what pages have these queries on / what the SQL of the query is in order to help optimize them
