fail to insert on first submit

Im using DA to insert a single record into my table
A logged in user selects an option from the drop down an clicks the submit button.

The selected item is supposed to be inserted into a mysql table, however it fails. (there are no messages or obvious signs it has failed)

If however, i repeat this action and select another item, the insert works fine and indeed continues to work with that session.

If i close the page and then open it again and repeat the above task, the behaviour described above is repeated.

Any ideas why this might be so please?

how are you determining that the insert has failed?

Are you looking in the MySQL Database directly to see if the record has been inserted?

or are you relying on the out put on the page to see the inserted data?

if you are relying on the output on the page, it is most likely that the insert is working fine, it's just that the order of the code is to create the recordset on the page before the record is inserted.

since the recordset is created before inserting the new record, the new record does not exist in the recordset, so ant be displayed on the page until the next time the page is loaded.

No record is being inserted on the initial insert, only on the second attempt and onward, does a record insert..

Yes, immediately after I make my first submit, i refresh the table and there's no new entry.
As I say, if i relaod my insert page, select an option and submit again, I can see a new record has inserted into mysql table.
