entry lenght validation

I am trying to figure out the login.php page created with the wizard and since there are no instructions to do things manually i only have left to ask, sorry.

I noticed that when user types username the field is red until it reaches the min number of characters requiered, if submitted with less an alert is displayed. Same for the password.

I have tried to create the same in my login page with no success. Could you please provide instructions?

Thanks,

this uses a spry validation text field for the user name and a spry validation password field for the password.

to add spry form elements to your page, go to Insert -> Forms -> Spry Validation text Filed or Spry Validation Password field.

once added to the page, click either the text or password field, notice the blue bounding box, click the blue bounding box to open the spry settings in the property inspector.

you can set minimum and maximum characters there.

Here is the file, same has the issues with cookies and autologin explained in my other thread. I tried to keep the issues separate as there is no documentation on any of this.

I also need a link where i can see the problem in the browser please.

you will want to edit the spry validation to validate on change and on blur.

I cant give you a link since its a development computer but the attached screenshots will clearly show the errors:

Spry: Even though i enter less characters than allowed it accepts, also field doenst become red / green as user types not does it display the alert if less than 4 characters

cookies 1: That is the screenshot before i log in

cookies 2: That is after i log out and go back to the login page.

error # 1: doesnt keep the checkboxes checked as before. And if I uncheck 'remember me' login and log out, login page STILL has username and password

error # 2: it doesnt login automatically even though auto login is checked next time i visit the page.

you need to edit the spry validation to perform validation on submit, on change and on blur.

see my replies to your cookie thread for details on the cookies issues.

Thanks, that seemed to have worked. I just dont get why field is yellow to begin with, i think it should be blank and then red as user types and green once passes validation, correct ?

the default for a spry field is yellow.

see the spry documentation for more details on spry fields:
