Login page tutorial

Hi,

I created my own custom 'login page'. as I go I am applying server validations, cookies, etc .. but i am finding it VERY hard to try and figure out what selections need to be made and how and if they have to be done in a specific order.

So I created the login page with the wizard, which creates a login page that is very difficult to fit into my own design, i see all the behaviors that are applied but some do not show.

For example: I dont know how to make the username and password fields go red as user types and once they get to be X number of characters they turn green, also to show a region if the login fails, etc ... then to set the cookies and to display the value of it when login fails ... and what i have done so far doesnt work.

I am trying to find ANY information on your site on how to build a login page but have not found anything, i would think this is something people ask all the time and most of us developers do ... a login page. Is there any tutorial on how to create one ? I have no guide on how to do one and at this point is sort of frustrating ... I found more user friendly the old extensions .... help is appreciated.

Index page attached

As a matter of fact I copied the code from the login page generated by the wizard into my page, copied the form elements and text, etc but at the end they dont work the same ... would you please be so kind to see what may be missing ?
I tried comparing both codes and couldnt find much of differnece other than the obvious design.
Having a tutorial on how to actually use the extensions would allow us to do our own thing ...
