Google map API

The way google handles API's for maps seems to have changed, and I'm not sure how it works now.

I have logged into google with my account details, and I have an API key available to me there, but I assume that this is associated with me rather than my client's website. How do I obtain a second code for my client's site?

Google seems to be charging for it now if you go over a certain amount of page impressions, so I don't want to be paying my clients bills!

your client would need to set up their own account with google, Or you would set it up for them so that the API key is associated to their account.

In actuality, the API Key is optional now, so you can elect not to use one all together if you like.

Yeah, thanks Jason. I read that there is no need for an API anymore, so how do I apply that in the CMS of the powerstore? The admin section wants an API code?

Power Store wont allow you to leave the API blank, at this time.

there is logic in place that will not show the map if the API is blank, you will need to have your client sign up for a google account, or sign up for one on their behalf, and generate a map API For their account.

Google API Key

As everybody, that may have attempted to make use of Google Maps with Power Store, may know all ready; Google has changed the Jave Script that display maps on web sites. I have loged into my google account and after a long tedius search in few qusquillions of pages full of googly-doogly API stuff; I've manged to create an API key for my client site but behold that @#%^& API key doesn't work becouse there is now a new Java Script not included in WebAssist PS2 this script is called API v2!! Any suggestion out there?

Go to the Google API Console page:
code.google.com/apis/console

to create a new API.

on the services tab, make sure to turn on the Map V2 API.

Google API Console

Thanks Jason, eventually I found in the Google API Console page/s where to enable Map V2 API java scripts and now the online map is working fine but all this process was a bit of a slog that could have been avoided if I had found some ready available instructions somewhere. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough!
Cheers
