Deleting / Updating extensions very slow!!!

Hi WA,

I'm sure you have read this a lot but deleting your extensions with the extension manager takes very long time. I know there are other ways to speed up, like renaming the config folder etc. but then you'll loose all installed extensions.

In Adobe forum i came accross below post, i'm not sure if anything can be changed for future releases to speed up these processes. This is a general issue that not only relates to your extensions but to most extensions out there.

POST FOUND:
" The reason is that the extension developer specifies shared="true" for all of files (more than 600 files) in mxi file, which causes Extension Manager do many checks to find each file is shared with which installed extensions so as to avoid improper overwrite/delete. This performance issue becomes worse when you installed multiple such kind of extensions. We have optimized the processing in Extension Manager CS6. The extension developer didn't realize the side effect of this attribute and overused it. Please communicate with the developer to suggest him/her to remove this attribute unless necessary. Thanks. For CS6: Try to deactivating extensions first then delete them.

For all others: rename configuration folder, start extension manager, delete extensions, install extension, activate all others.

I have to say that with CS6 the Removing of extensions seems to be lightening quick! Especially the larger extensions such as DB and DE.

Cheers
