Manual Sorting

Hey WebAssist,

Congrats on finally releasing an update to Data Assist. Looking forward to using it.

Out of interest, were you able to address manually sorting records like the original Interakt & ADDT products used to do? I know that there was a tutorial a year or two ago (see: sortable-rows-with-data-assist) that would have been great to see integrated into DA3 (or equivalent).

Regards,

That's a shame ...

Looks like it doesn't support it. Didn't stop me purchasing DataBridge though but not having sortable rows is a bit of a shame when both Interakt and ADDT (defunct for years now) were able to do it.

Up and down arrows on each row worked a charm but drag and drop would be better for larger lists. Either would have been a big plus for a CMS managing pages on a site. To not have either option built into it is disappointing. I'm aware there is an AJAX Sortable Rows Tutorial floating around but that requires code altering which I'd like to avoid doing every single time I use the thing.

Coming soon? No plans?

I'd like to avoid having to do it each time I need the list to be sortable as well.

... and that's coming from the dude who came up with the tutorial that you guys often refer people to, WebAssist!

Not suggesting that you should have had this feature implemented by now or that it should have come out in this release, but from what I can see in your forums there's a massive demand for it.

I own pretty much all of your extensions but I still have to go back to using Dreamweaver CS3 and ADDT's Dynamic List Wizard & Dynamic Form Wizard because it's easier to use, particularly when it comes to sortable rows.

From what I can remember Adobe bought out Interakt in 2006 and pretty much just implemented their already developed (and a couple of years old) extension (with not much editing) and renamed it ADDT.

It's now 6+ years later, CS6 is hitting the shelves and you've just released a long awaited updated DataAssist extension that requires people to enter a number in a field to represent a sort order. It's clunky.

In development, coming soon or it's not happening?

It was on the list but was cut for time. You'll likely see it in the next update and see a tutorial for it sooner. We appreciate the feedback and will listen to your advice.

I know you understand it can be added manually, but we will add it to the wizard at some point as well.

Did this help? Tips are appreciated...

Looking forward to it, Ray. It's not a make or break feature for me, but I do wish it was there. For me it'd make it perfect.

Cafe Commerce Video

Hey Ray,

At 0:42 on the Cafe Commerce video (www.cafecommerce.com/) there's a neat navigation sorter. Can we have one of those? Please, please, pleeeease?

Or a tutorial.
