UPS - How does it work?

UPS - How does it work?

Hi,
We plan to open a webshop, and we may use CafeCommerce (Seems pretty fine so far).

I have a question regarding how the shipping works with UPS.

As you may know, UPS has a service where they store our goods in their own warehouse, and ship them from there. I See that I can give you my contract number at UPS, and the shop will calculate automatically the fees.

My Question: Does the store also send the order to UPS, so delivery is automatic from their warehouse?

If not how, does it work? Do I contact UPS personally, for every order we get, tell them where to send and what, and they do it?

Thank you very much.

the UPS system of Cafe Commerce is strictly for shipping rate lookup, it takes the weight of the products being orders, the origin zip code an the shipping destination zip code, sends that information to UPS, and UPS returns a quote for how mush the shipment will cost.

I am not familiar with how the UPS Warehousing system works, but Caffe Commerce does not tie into that system to automate the shipment when an order is placed, they are 2 separate systems.

I would guess that you would need to contact the UPS warehouse for each order placed.
