Search Via Postcode

Search Via Postcode

I have a mySQL database with a list of addresses which all include a postcode in a postcode field. What I would like to do is add a form field to allow visitors to enter their postcode which will then locate the nearest addresses in the database to their postcode and then put this up through Google Map on the page. Is this possible to do?

Thanks in advance

It is posible, but not supported. Zip code proximity searches are difficult to configure.

here is a tutorial that outlines the basics:

I've just done this on a project using long and lat references for each post code.

You will need a post code lookup database containing longitude and latitude references for each post code and a mySQL calculation to work out the distance. You can then order the distances by closest first and display the records on the Google Map.
