when you install wamp, it will create a default user named "root" i believe the default password for the root use is also "root", before creating your database connection, you should create a database using PHPMyAdmin.

in the database connection settings use:
Server/Host Name: Localhost
Database: this should be the name you use for the database in PHPMyAdmin
Username: root
Password: root

there is no need to create a new user in mySQL, just use the default root user.

through google i found this tutorial that walks through getting started with using PHPMyAdmin for creating a database:
easy-guide-for-installing-wamp-and-using-phpmyadmin.html

I'm a little unsure on what you are having trouble with, are you trying to create the database in PHPMyAdmin? or create the connection to the database in Dreamweaver?

When you say "it's not working" that does not give me anything to go on, please describe in detail how it's not working. do you get error messages? if so what are they?

in your dreamweaver site definition, how have you defined the connection to the testing server?

Can you send a screen shot in a zip archive of the site definition settings for connecting to the testing server.
