ecart receipt with bar code

Hi,

I'm building a site that the client wants the eCart receipt to generate a custom ID (number) or some sort of a bar code. This receipt will be used for online event ticket sales so each receipt # cannot be duplicated. Best example would be: You purchase a ticket online for an upcoming event, you print your receipt and bring it to the event as your ticket and proof of purchase.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback to how to accomplish creating a custom receipt number or creating some type of bar code in conjunction.

Thanks

Erick

by default, eCart uses the ID column of the orders table as the order number, the database controls this number, it uses an auto incrementing value so that each ID is unique.

you could edit the order table so that the ID starts at a different number than 1:

ALTER TABLE tblName AUTO_INCREMENT = 12000

this would start the ID numbers at 12000 and each order placed would increment from there.

using a bar code in the emails would take custom coding to accomplish and is not supported.

Thanks Jason,

Last question, in respect to your response, can I create an ID that has alpha character included i.e. event name-277 (ticket number) so that the end receipt number would look like
Receipt: staxx-277 and auto increment or decrease? My goal was to have the cart read sold out after say 300 tickets have been sold, so the starting ticket receipt would read "show name - ticket starting number i.e. staxx-277, next ticket sold would read staxx-276 etc. Once all of the tickets have been sold (staax-001) no more payments could be received and some form of sold out notification be displayed?

Thanks again

Erick

No, the ID can only contain numbers

What happens if you buy two tickets... you would have a unique order number but the two tickets get posted in the order_details table as a single record with a quantity of two.
