Design Edit Theme page not coming up

I am in testing mode at this time, but I had everything working until I started playing around with trying to edit the look and feel of my store via the template php files and css. I replaced the files after changing the look a bit. Also once of the themes is missing altogether now (shows blank on the them called Crazy, which is one I wanted to use). When I go to the Design page and select Edit Theme on any of the themes, nothing comes up. Do I have to reinstall everything or can this be easily fixed. On internet explorer I get the error:

The website cannot display the page

HTTP 500

Most likely causes:
•The website is under maintenance.
•The website has a programming error.

What you can try:

Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

this is probably a permissions issue.

I have created a support ticket so we can look into this issue further.

No need to do anything anymore. You gave me the answer. It was a permissions issue. You recommended Filezila last time I contacted tech support and I've been using it since. I changed the permissions and it works now. I didn't realize everytime I copy the files over from my local, I have to change permissions. Now I know. thanks.

This is happening again

When I press on 'Select Theme' noting happens. When I select 'Edit Theme' I get a blank page. This all happened after I manually renamed a backup theme folder to my Live theme name and the live theme name to a backup name, I reverted back later. Permissions are all set to 777. ??

On IE I get the error:

The website cannot display the page

HTTP 500

Most likely causes:
•The website is under maintenance.
•The website has a programming error.

What you can try:

Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

I posted everything along with other problems on the support ticket. I need to show to client in a bit. I'd appreciate if this could be resolved this morning. Thank you.

when i accessed your server this morning, i did not see the change in the admin_menu.php page:

php:
<?php if(WA_Auth_RulePasses("Super Administrator")) { ?>

<li><span><a href="../../../admin/admin_settings.php">Settings</a></span></li>
<?php ?>
<li><span><a href="../../../admin/design.php">Design</a></span></li>

so i changed that.

I also need to update the following files in the webassist/plugins/styler folder:
fulebrowse.php
imageupdate.php
styleupdate.php

and change:

php:
if (!WA_Auth_RulePasses("Super Administrator")){

to:

php:
if (!WA_Auth_RulePasses("Administrator")){
