Adding ALT attributes to product images

Adding ALT attributes to product images

I have been advised by the SEO company I use that it is good to add ALT attributes with keyword rich descriptions to my images. I have been able to do this for the main content pages where their are images, but I can't seem to find how to add this to the images that are uploaded for the product database. Can you advise me how to do this please?

you would need to add a new column to the products table to hold the alt tag, then edit the products insert page to add a new form element for entering the alt tag, and update the insert record behavior to store the alt tag value.

This will require hand coding an knowledge of PHP to accomplish, and is not something we support here in the forums, if you need assistance adding this, we can help you in a premiere support appointment.
