Date validation
Whilst the date validation server behaviour gives the option of accepting yyyy-mm-dd date format - like 2012-03-13, the instructions indicate that I must use the following date formats:
For european date formats day[-/.]month[-/.]year, enter dates dd/mm/yyyy.
For all other dates, enter in the form mm/dd/yyyy.
I am trying to validate my date in the MySQL format of yyyy-mm-dd as the page being validated is an insert record page, where the input goes straight into a MySQL date field. As far as I know, if I send the date in the wrong format, MySQL may not accept it.
Its also a bit difficult to work out what to put in the mindate and maxdate fields.
I am using this field to hold the expiry date of an event, normally 6 months after insertion. When that date has passed, the event will not show up in the event list, and will be deleted when anyone looks at the event list after that time.
Is it possible to validate a yyyy-mm-dd date in an insert record form and send it direct to the database without additional processing?
Or do you have to validate a dd-mm-yyyy date and then convert it to yyyy-mm-dd on a subsequent page before inserting the record?
All suggestions welcomed.
