A valid amount is required error

A valid amount is required error

I have been noticing a number of errors recently with Authorize.net declining order with the following "A valid amount is required". In the past I have notice one or two of these every few weeks and have attributed it to the session timing out due to a customer waiting to place the order to long on the site. But it is now happening several times a day. Any ideas? Thank you.

Is this an issue you can reproduce?

is the cart static or dynamic?

if dynamic, make sure that all of your prices are valid numbers, without the dollar sign in the database.

this error usually occurs if the amount for an item is not a number. if the price passed to authorize.net included the currency symbol "$3.02" it will cause this error.

it could also be caused if you have discounts applied that cause the total of the cart to be less than 0.01 cents.

static

This cart is static. The cart reacts correctly until going to authorize.net. I also have the option to use PayPal instead of Authorize and have not heard of any issue there. I can not seem to recreate it myself but as I mentioned it has gotten much more frequent. I have also been getting a few emails recently asking "I tried to place an order but I am not sure that it went through?" When this happens I have not been getting the orders and to be honest I am not sure where they are getting directed but thought I would mention it in case you see some similarity. I will look a little deeper into any invalid numbers in the products. Thanks.

I get the full response from Authorize when a transaction fails and in the case where it states "A valid amount is required" there is all of the buyers info but nothing from the cart - no products, no totals, etc.
