backing up a database

Hey

Just wondering if there is a way for a me or a client to create a backup of the data in the database in the event a site goes down and need to uplaod the most recent content?

This question really applies to all the modules like ecart, PowerCMS builder, Gallery etc

Thanks

Jamie

you would need to use a 3rd part MySQL GUI tool such as PHPMyAdmin, Sequel Pro, or SQL Yog to export the database.

Hi Jason

On the hosting I have phpMyAdmin .... to back up the database and all the content and images, is it just a question of exporting a selecgted database when logged into phpMyAdmin?

yes, select the database in phpmuyadmin, then go to the export tab.

this will back up the content , not the images.

to back up the images, you need to back up the images upload folder.

thought this may be helpful to anyone else looking for a solution to back up a site and its associated databases.

I was introduced to Xcloner (www.xcloner.com) by a friend a few weeks ago.

really simple to implement and you can either set it to store locally or upload to a remote FTP location.

All the best

Jamie
