Use old Ecart database with Powerstore

Have an existing website created with Dreamweaver and Ecart extension that isn't working properly. Want to use existing product database which contains over 3,000 records with Powerstore. Installed Powerstore and tested transaction with default Powerstore product database structure and it worked fine. The Powerstore database needs to be restructured to include fields from the old database. Tried restructuring the old database to include fields from Powerstore ps4_product database and renamed to ps4_product and the application became unusable. Reinstalled several times to correct this issue with no success. Is there a straightforward to migrate my old product and customer database over to Powerstore?

no, using an existing products table with Power Store will not work.

there is no strait forward way to export the existing product info to the power store products table.

you would need to edit the existing product database to use the same column names and data types as the power store products table, just changing the name of the table will not suffice.

Migrating from Ecart to Powerstore

Screwed again! You mean that there is no way to move existing product info from Ecart to Powerstore? If that is the case, the product is no use to me and I need a refund. I am not inputting 3,000+ product into the Powerstore database.

"Screwed again!"

eCart is not a product database. It provides the front end functionality in terms of the shopping cart. The database that sits behind eCart can take infinite structures as its down to how the developer puts the solution together.

Powerstore is a pre-built solution with a pre-defined structure.

You simply cannot migrate from an unknown quantity to a defined structure. That's a crazy request / expectation. If you wanted a migration tool writing you would need to talk to the developers of your eCart based solution.

what Ian says is true.

but if you read the entirety of my initial reply, I do give some advice on how you may be able to get the product info into the power store data base:

you would need to edit the existing product database to use the same column names and data types as the power store products table,

look carefully at the structure of the power store products table, the column names and data types.

if you edit the structure of your existing products table to match the power store products table, it may work.

you may need to add columns or remove some that are not relevant to power store.

the key to success with this is matching the names and data types. It will take some patience, and experimentation to get it right. I would suggest making a back up before you start.
