Dynamic List/Menu question

Dynamic List/Menu question

Is it possible to add a default item in the static options area of a dynamic menu which does not perform any function?

I have a "Please choose an option" as my static option at the top of the menu. When the "Go" button is clicked when this is visible my results page is shown with a "No records Found" statement.

I would like the click on the "Go" button to do nothing when the static option is showing and only show a results page when the active menu options are selected.

Hey Bill,

Would you please elaborate more on what it is you are trying to do and what you currently have set up? What about your list is dynamic? Does it dynamically populate, or are the labels dynamic?

The best solution is to disable the Go button when a static option, or an option with no value, is selected.

My dynamic menus work perfectly, but I would like the static option at the top, which shows "Please choose", to be disabled so that if the "go" button is clicked with the static option displayed then nothing should happen. I only want the menu to function when one of the other dynamic selections are selected.

Hope this is clearer.

Evening Bill,

You can try setting a server redirect on your results page with the default entry ( the static option ) sending a URL parameter to the results page to indicate it was the one selected. Then set the server redirect on the results page to fire if that parameter is passed and redirect back to the page with the select list.

Beyond that, if you would like our engineers to help you get it done, please contact sales to set up a premier ticket at 888-490-1545 if you're in the USA or +1-858-768-6600 if you aren't, and we can walk you through the process.
