File Extension Validation never passes

File Extension Validation never passes

I keep running into this issue where if I specify validation, say for an image, and try to upload an actual image, the validation never passes.

I toyed with the regular expression it uses and noticed that it seems to give me the first letter of the file, so i think something is wrong with it.

Has anyone else ran into this issue and found a quick fix?

Thanks,

Brian

how are you setting the validation?

here is a sample file i put together for file extension validation, it will only allow .jpg, .gif or .png files.

@Jason,

I am setting server validation through the dialog box. For some reason, even though I am truly uploading an image, it never passes - always kicking back the error.

Thanks,

Brian

I understand that, what i was asking is what are the settings you are using in the dialogue box?

did you look at the example page I sent? did you try that out?

here is a screen shot showing the settings that i used when creating the sample page.

Ahhh, I think I figured it out.

I am a numbskull sometimes (ok... most of the time).

I was applying these validations to an insert page created by dataAssist.

One problem, though - dataAssist does not add the encoding for the form for file handling such as: enctype="multipart/form-data"

After adding that, it appears that life will, in fact, go on.

I even hear that the world will continue rotating.

Amazing.

Thanks,

Brian
