count times an item is viewed

Hi, I am setting up an ecommerce site in php and mysql that I would like to display how many times an item has been viewed. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance

This is not a simple one to accomplish. it require a good understanding of creating recordsets, setting session, doing basic math in PHP and updating the database. It will require some hand coding to accomplish.

you would need to have a table that stores the view count.

it will need a column to hold the productID and the count

create a recordset to return the count column for the product using the product ID querystring to filter.

store the count in a session variable and increment it by one.

then add an update record behavior to store the new count in the database.

you can use the session to show the currant count.

We wont be able to offer a lot of help on setting this up, if you need assistance, i would suggest signing up for a premiere ticket appointment where we would be able to work with you in a one on one scenario.

My mistake. I am incrementing all items by one every time. It is not inputting into the correct item.

in the update record behavior, make sure you are using the product ID querystring to tell it which item to increment the count for.
