is this happening on your remote server or on the local server?

i dont understand what you mean in this part of the problem report:
"and seem to create new reocrds and remove files"

remove fiels? are you using a the delete or upload file behaviors? how are you removing files?

how many columns are in your table?

I need more details on the nature of the problem to be able to offer assistance.

Hi,

There are 57 columns in the table, and sometimes i upload 1 to 3 images, but that doesnt seem to make a difference.

I am uploading stories in a text field in 2 of the columns, the rest are simple varchar 255 columns.

This happens at very random times, like when deleting a record, updating and or inserting a record.

I asked the server company, i have a dedicated box and they said they dont see anything in the logs.

Dont know what to check next.. Adjust memory settings and timeouts?

Where do i go from here?

I have had applications i have built on other servers and randomly they have issues also..

anything you can suggest i look at?

the most common cause of the MtSQL Server Has Gone Away error message is that the server has timed out and closed the connection

see the mysql documentation for details on increasing the wait_timeout variable.

If you continue to have problems, double check with the host on the MYSQL Version being used, if it is mysql 4 ask to have it upgraded to mysql 5

Ok but the mysql timed out is really just a symptom of the the problem of not keeping the connection open or closing it too soon?

when i insert 2 to 6 rows fairly quick into the database, it waits over a minute to connect back to the website.. why would it do that? i thought it might have just been webassist, but it also does this with regular dreamweaver insert records..

if it is taking that long to process an insert, It sounds like there is an issue with the php server connecting to the mysql server.

It sounds to me like the 2 issues would be symptoms of the same problem. Not really sure what the issue could be, but it sounds like a server configuration issue.
