Trouble Linking Pages

Trouble Linking Pages

Jason:

I have created a Search page that successfully generates Results and Details pages, but now I'm having difficulty linking that Search page to the Login page. It seems that DW is not passing some variables from one to the other.

For Search page I used a previously existing page that already contained a recordset and some data displayed using that recordset, but now that I try to link the Search page to the Login page I'm not getting the right results.

It seems that the code linking the Login page to the Search page is missing in the Search page, either because I somehow erased it, or because the DA Wizard did it.

Attached you will find two pages. The first one, "MemberHomePage" is the one I used to create the Search page; that one links very well with the Login page, but the second, "TSearch", doesn't.

Would you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your attention.

i must be missing something, i dont see any links to a page called login.php in either page

when you click the login link on the page that works what is the address in the address bar?

when you click the login link on the page that does not work what is the address in the address bar?

The Login page's name is index.php

you did not answer the other questions:

when you click the login link on the page that works what is the address in the address bar?

when you click the login link on the page that does not work what is the address in the address bar?

Sorry, I'm not sure I'm understanding your question well. When I click the Button "Login" on the index page, the address in the address bar is:

index.php

That's the case for both the page that works and the page that doesn't.

Does this help?

I think were both a bit confused.

I'm not understanding what the problem is.

Perhaps if you could send a screen of what it should like working and what it looks like when it is not working, I can get a better grasp of what the problem is.

Please compress the screen shoots into a zip archive.

Jason:

Attached please find two screenshots:

1) CherryOk is the "MemberHomePage" that displays part of the profile of the fictional member that just logged in. That's the page that links well to the index page.

2) CherryNotOk is the "TSearch" page that already contains the search code the DA Wizard placed there. As you can see, the profile and the picture (both fictional) displayed in the "TSearch" page are not the same as in the "MemberHomePage", even though I logged in using the same Username and Password as before (The "TSearch" page is always displaying the same "Cherry" profile. It's stuck there)

The Search code is working well.

The problem, I think, is either that the index page is not passing the variable that would make the TSearch page display the profile of the user that just logged in, or the "Tsearch" page no longer has the code to do that.

I hope I'm making sense.

on the p[agew that is working, you are using a recordset named "memberHome".

in the memberHome recordset, you are filtering the email column on a session variable named "MM_Username"

the page that is not working, the recordset is named "WADADynListprofiles", that recordset is not set to filter the email column using the "MM_Username" session variable, for it to work the same as the other page, it will need to filter the email column using the "MM_Username" session variable.

Jason:

As usual, you're right. But that would mean that the DA Wizard somehow threw away the code to filter the email column using the "MM_Username" session variable, no? And the "memberHome" Recordset too. As you know, the "WADADynListprofiles" Recordset was generated by the Wizard.

In any case, could you kindly point to me what line numbers I would have to copy from the "MemberHomePage" page into the "TSearch" page in order to make the "TSearch" page work OK?

Thank you for your attention.

Please disregard my last request. I already solved that issue.
