Multiple Shipping instances added to cart

Multiple Shipping instances added to cart

PROBLEM:

My client has asked that I include a single flat rate of £42 for shipping. I've set this up in the shipping option of the checkout wizard and in the eCart object. When I test this, even with only one item in the cart, I get multiple instances of shipping being added to the checkout page.

In fact I get 11 instances of £42 showing up, and being totaled to £462!

Looking in the shipping tab of the eCart object (in edit mode), my shipping and handling £42 flat rate rule is there 11 times. I didn't add it 11 times, but I guess this does explain why I'm getting 11 instances of shipping added during checkout.

Problem is I don't seem to be able to delete this shipping rule from the eCart object. If I select the first instance of the rule and delete it, all 11 instances seem to be deleted - but when I click OK to leave the eCart object I get this JavaScript Error:

"While executing onClick in WA eCart Object.htm, a Javascript error occurred"

The only way I can leave the eCart object is to click Cancel - which means the problem rule(s) are not deleted.

SOLUTION:

I've managed to get round the problem for now by adding a new shipping rule and making the problem one(s) inactive. I noted that when I make one instance of this inactive all eleven instances become inactive.

My new rule works fine - but I thought I'd report this here in case anyone else is having this problem and / or knows of a way to remove these miscreant rules from the eCart Object.

Hi Rob,

In my experience, the best advice is to clear out the Dreamweaver cache, uninstall and reinstall eCart and try creating your cart and rules again. I know it's a hassle, but it's best in the long run in terms of having a smoothly operating cart, particularly if you want to make changes in the future, other shipping rules for example.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Nath.
